The blurb...

The RTE Storyland competition was established early this year with the aim of giving control over to a group of 10 different productions from all walks of film-making. From professional production studio's to amateurs with a camera, the project aimed to give everyone a level playing field to make their own online-based show.

With 6 episodes at stake, each round eliminated some shows via public voting. At episode 5, it was wittled down to two productions, including Rental Boys! The winner of the public vote this time around won the overall competition and got the opportunity to finish their series with a sixth episode.

Rental Boys is the story of two rivalling video-rental stores in the Dublin suburb of Finglas. Brian (played by Shane Langan) is the disgruntled Movie Visions employee who aspires to be a sci-fi screen writer while his new work-mate Andrew (played by Rory Conolly) brings his get-go attitude to work, much to Brian's shegrin.

After the closure of the rival store, Filmbusters, Derek Murphy (played by Les Martin) introduces ex-Filmbusters tanned-lad Darren (played by Paul Butler-Lennox) while his former co-hort Sharon (played by Amy Stephenson) goes to work in the childcare industry.

Besides all this, Brian struggles with his romantic attachment to local film-maker Kato (played by Phillipa Dunne) and his new hatred for new-boy Darren and his wonderful idea's on how to improve revenue for the company - with sunbeds!
